Stephane Coker: Hey y’all! My name is Stephane. I am taking this course of U.S. Government as part of the required curriculum for my undergraduate degree. According to a political typology quiz, I am a steadfast conservative, a Republican with conservative attitudes over most issues. I have no previous history with politics, well unless you count class secretary back in my high school days. When I say no previous history, that also means I have never voted in any United States election. I chose not to vote on the basis that I did not believe myself knowledgeable of the ongoing issues, candidates, or their positions. I felt it to be irresponsible to cast my vote from a point of blatant ignorance. Now, at the ripe old age of twenty-four, I see the ignorance of my ignorance. It is important to be involved on the issues of our country and to vote. Through this blog and the class associated with it, I hope to develop a better understanding of politics and my own personal views on public matters. I scored very well on both the Civic Literacy and Current Event quizzes.
